Number of job openings rose to 5.4 million over the year ending February 2016

From February 2015 to February 2016, the number of job openings rose to 5.4 million, an increase of 314,000 over that 12-month period. The job openings rate was 3.7 percent in February 2016, up from 3.5 percent a year earlier. The number of hires increased to 5.4 million over the year ending February 2016, a gain of 331,000. The hires rate increased from 3.6 percent in February 2015 to 3.8 percent in February 2016.
