Household furnishings and supplies prices down 1.6 percent over the year ending February 2018

Over the year ending February 2018, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) household furnishings and supplies index decreased 1.6 percent, compared with a 2.2-percent increase in the CPI-U for all items. Household furnishings and supplies makes up about 3.4 percent of the total CPI-U market basket.

From February 2017 to February 2018, the price index for floor coverings increased 3.5 percent. The CPI-U for all items less food and energy increased 1.8 percent over the same period.
