Spring has finally arrived and it's the perfect time for spring cleaning, trying out your green thumb, or starting a home improvement project. Let's take a look at consumer prices for items or services you may buy when updating your home. The price of dishes and flatware fell 10.7 percent over the 12-months ending March 2019 while prices for major appliances increased 8.8 percent during this same period.

Interior furnishings such as window coverings (–3.6 percent), clocks, lamps, and decorator items (–2.9 percent), and nonelectric cookware and tableware (–1.6 percent) all decreased from March 2018 to March 2019. Prices for gardening and lawncare services increased 4.4 percent and domestic services 3.5 percent.
