Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 46 states and the District of Columbia and was essentially unchanged in 4 states for the year ended January 2022. The largest percentage increases occurred in Nevada (10.3 percent), Hawaii (7.5 percent), California (7.4 percent), New Mexico (6.0 percent), and Oregon (5.9 percent).

In Nevada, the major industries with the largest percentage increases in employment for the year ended January 2022 were leisure and hospitality (26.9 percent), information (14.6 percent), and professional and business services (13.7 percent).
As with Nevada, the leisure and hospitality industry had the largest percentage increases in employment among major industries in California (43.3 percent), Oregon (42.4 percent), Hawaii (37.3 percent), and New Mexico (35.4 percent).
