Nearly all individuals ages 15 to 24 engaged in personal care activities (99.7 percent), eating and drinking (95.5 percent), and leisure and sports (94.4 percent) on an average day in 2023. About two-thirds of these young people engaged in household activities (67.5 percent), while about one-third engaged in work and work-related activities (34.1 percent), educational activities (32.9 percent), and purchasing goods and services (32.4 percent). These data are for primary activities only and may not fully capture activities like eating or drinking when performed simultaneously with other activities.

Individuals ages 15 to 24 were more likely to engage in some activities on nonholiday weekdays than they were on weekend days and holidays. On nonholiday weekdays, 38.7 percent of these young people engaged in working and work-related activities, compared with 23.4 percent on weekend days and holidays. For educational activities, these percentages were 37.5 percent on nonholiday weekdays and 22.3 percent on weekend days and holidays.
