Over the year ended February 2025, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 2.8 percent. Food prices rose 2.6 percent, while energy prices decreased 0.2 percent. Prices for all items less food and energy increased 3.1 percent, the smallest 12-month advance since April 2021 (3.0 percent).

Within all items less food and energy, prices for services less energy rose 4.1 percent from February 2024 to February 2025, and prices for shelter increased 4.2 percent. These were the smallest 12-month increases for these indexes since December 2021.
Prices for medical care rose 2.9 percent over the year ended February 2025, as medical care services prices increased 3.0 percent and medical care commodities prices were up 2.3 percent. Other indexes with notable increases included motor vehicle insurance (11.1 percent), recreation (1.8 percent), and education (3.7 percent).
