Revisions to Labor Productivity and Costs by Industry: Manufacturing and Mining Industries - 2020
On August 26, 2021, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) revised data published in Productivity and Costs by Industry: Manufacturing and Mining Industries - 2020, originally released on April 29, 2021. The revisions include:
- revisions to 2018-2019 output due to the incorporation of benchmark data from the 2017 Economic Census data including new North American Product Classification System (NAPCS) based product data,
- revisions to 2020 output and compensation due to the incorporation of updated source data from the Federal Reserve Board and the BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program.
On January 27, 2022, BLS further revised data from this release:
- revisions to 2019-2020 output due to the incorporation of the 2020 Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM),
- revisions to 2013-2020 output due to the incorporation of benchmark data from the 2017 Economic Census Materials Consumed by Kind of Industry (MCBK) table,
- small revisions to 1987-2020 output because of new methods of estimating intrasectoral shipments between manufacturing establishments.
