Among the manufacturing industries, textile mills had the largest productivity increase in 2016, 6.6 percent, followed by petroleum and coal products manufacturing (4.3 percent), primary metals manufacturing (4.1 percent), printing and related support activities (2.2 percent), and chemical manufacturing (1.0 percent).
Beverages and tobacco products manufacturing recorded the largest decline in productivity among manufacturing industries in 2016, 10.2 percent.
Productivity rose 5.4 percent in oil and gas extraction in 2016 and 4.3 percent in mining, except oil and gas.
