Long-term unemployed accounted for 23.6 percent of all unemployed people in September 2025

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) changed little at 1.8 million in September 2025. The long-term unemployed accounted for 23.6 percent of all unemployed people. Over the past three years, this figure has ranged from 25.7 percent in August 2025 to 17.6 percent in February 2023.
