Job openings rate 5.5 percent in Georgia, 5.4 percent in Alaska, during 2025

During 2025, the job openings rate averaged 5.5 percent in Georgia and 5.4 percent in Alaska. Average job openings rates were also 5.0 percent or higher in West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. Rates averaged under 4.0 percent in six states: California, Hawaii, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada and Washington. Nationally, the job openings rate averaged 4.3 percent in 2025.

During 2024, job openings rates in Alaska and West Virginia averaged 6.3 percent and 6.1 percent, respectively. Washington and California had rates below 4.0 percent.
Job openings rates averaged 7.0 percent or higher in three states (Alaska, West Virginia, and Colorado) in 2023 and were 8.0 percent or higher in four states (Alaska, West Virginia, Montana, and Georgia) in 2022. Alaska's rate was above 8.0 percent in 2021, while rates were above 7.0 percent in ten other states. During these years, the states with the lowest rates were New York in 2023 (4.4 percent), the District of Columbia and New York in 2022 (5.5 percent), and the District of Columbia in 2021 (5.5 percent).
