The quits rate in the construction industry rose 0.4 percentage point over the month to reach 2.4 percent in October 2022. The quits rate in the transportation, warehousing, and utilities industry fell by 0.3 percentage point over the month to reach 2.8 percent. The leisure and hospitality industry had the highest quits rate among the major industries in October, 5.5 percent.

These data are from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey and are seasonally adjusted. Data for the most recent month are preliminary. To learn more, see "Job Openings and Labor Turnover — October 2022." We also have more charts of job openings, hires, and separations data. Quits are generally voluntary separations initiated by the employee. The quits rate is the number of quits during the entire month as a percent of total employment. Therefore, the quits rate can serve as a measure of workers’ willingness or ability to leave jobs.
